The Officers and Board of
Directors of the Portland Historical Society, Inc. are pleased to announce the
Grand Opening of the Ruth Callander House Museum of Portland History. The
opening celebration will be held the weekend of June 7 & 8, 2003 from both days. The public is invited to help
us celebrate this historic event, the opening of
The Portland Historical Society
was formed in 1974 with about 250 members. One of the charter members,
Ruth Callander, generously bequeathed her historic home at
The following events are planned:
Friday, June 6th - Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Reception for members and invited guests.
Saturday, June 7th – () The Museum will be open to the public for the first time. The Portland Garden Club will welcome visitors to The Betty Keser Scott Garden from , with the dedication of the garden beginning at .
Sunday, June 8th – () The Museum will continue its opening events. In memory of our benefactor, we will be having a party to celebrate Ruth Callander’s Birthday. Refreshments will be served.
Due to limited parking at the
site, which has been reserved for handicapped access that weekend, complimentary
shuttle bus transportation will be available.
